GNAPH Webinar: “From Data to Action: Global Burden of Disease and the Role of Academic Public Health”
Join the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH) for a timely discussion on the Global Burden of Disease and its implications for global health and academic public health. Moderated by GNAPH President John Middleton and featuring speakers from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), this webinar will provide an overview of key findings from the 2023 Global Burden of Disease Study, including post-pandemic health trends, persistent inequities, and the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases.
The webinar will include a moderated panel discussion featuring Laura Magaña (ASPPH), GNAPH Immediate Past-President, and Wah Yun Low (APACPH), GNAPH President-Elect, who will reflect on how academic public health can make use of these data and tools to inform teaching, research, and advocacy, and how GNAPH might continue learning from and collaborating with IHME in the future. It will also consider the role of GNAPH and the wider academic public health community in responding to these findings to help prepare the next generation of public health leaders.
