The Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH) has endorsed a statement released last week by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and stands firmly with ASPPH in expressing deep concern over the abrupt removal of Dr. Susan Monarez as Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As ASPPH emphasized, sudden dismissals of senior public health officials undermine scientific integrity and risk destabilizing an institution vital to protecting global health at a critical time. GNAPH urges leaders and policymakers to safeguard the CDC’s independence and ensure that public health decision-making remains depoliticized and guided by science and evidence-based practice.
